Dr. Cowan started working at AAC in 2018 and became a partner in 2022. “Being a veterinarian is all I’ve ever wanted to do. It’s not a job for me, it’s who I am. The fact that I get to work with some of the greatest people in Atchison is an incredible bonus. My coworkers make it so fun to come to work each and every day. I truly love my job with all my heart and consider it a true honor to be able to do what I love.” Carrie enjoys spending time with her husband Colby and family.

When the opportunity presented itself she jumped at the chance to be a vet assistant. Eleven years and two kids later she left the clinic to be a stay at home mom and help her husband, Dirk, with the family farm. Nine years after that, the opportunity presented itself once more to become a part of the AAC team/family, just in a different role as office manager. She is sometimes called the “clinic mom,” because she gives her opinions and advice whether it is asked for or not. When she is not working at the clinic, you can find her running after her kids, Clarissa and Aiden. They are always headed to sporting events, cattle shows, horse shows, 4-H or church activities. If there is a free moment you might find her fishing, sewing a new show shirt, or trying out a new recipe.

Madeline Forant is currently in high school. She has had a dream of working at a vet clinic, since she met her moms Italian Greyhound. At an early age her Grandpa took her with him everytime he went to the vet with cattle because he knew she loved it. When she was eleven years old her mom bought her her first puppy as a Christmas present. She’d previously had dogs but this was her first puppy and she was beyond excited. She definitely spoils him but he deserves it. His name is Ember, he’s a Corgi Cattle dog mix and loves hikes, eating treats specifically scrambled eggs. From the day she met Ember he’s been her best friend. She always wanted to work at a vet clinic and when she heard how great everyone was at Atchison Animal Clinic she had to put in an application. She has two dogs, an aussie named Willow and a border collie named Sophie. Erica also has two barn cats that think they are cattle dogs.
